Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients:

1 head of cabbage
1 - 1 1/2 cups half and half
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup rice
1 egg
salt and sugar
1/2 cup bread crumbs
butter for frying
meat stock, broth, or water
 

Directions:

Cook cabbage so that leaves can be separated and folded without breaking; remove thick vein. Cook rice until soft; mix with ground beef, salt, bread crumbs, egg and milk. Mix well.

Place about 2 tbsp. of the mixture on each cabbage leaf, fold and roil leaf. Fry cabbage roll in butter until brown. Place in layers in casserole; sprinkle each layer with sugar and salt; add meat stock. Cover and bake in a slow oven 3 to 4 hours..
