Microwave Cheese French Bread

  Ingredients:
  • 1 loaf (16 oz) French Bread
  • 3 slices (3/4 oz. each) Amrican or Colby chese, cut diaonally into 4 triangles
  • 3 slices (3/4 oz. each) Swiss or brick cheese, cut diagonally into 4 triangles. 

Directions:

Cut loaf diagonally in half.  Make diagonal cuts at  1/2 inch intervals just to within 1/2 inch of bottom crust.  Insert one triangle each of American and Swiss cheese between bread slices.  Wrap each loaf half i papaer towel.  Microwave one at a time at 50% (medium) 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, or until cheeseis softened and bread is warm t the touch.  Repeat with remaining half.

Variations: 

  • Garlic Cheese French Bread:  Omit cheese slices.  Place  package (3 oz) cream cheese in small bowl.  Microwave at 50% -medium for 30 to 60 seconds, or until softened. Stir in 1 teaspoon dried chives and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.  Spreadbetween bread slices.
  • Parmesan Freanch Bread:  Omit cheese slices.  Place 1/4 cup butter or margarine in small bowl.  Microwave at high 30 to 60 seconds, or until melted.  Stir in 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.  Brush between slices.
