Material Needed:
- fabric (each basked requires two 6 inch diameter circles)
- white household glue
- ribbon (11 inches for each basket)
- small silk flowers
- waxed papper
- masking tape
- tall spray - paint can or similarly shaped object to use as a form
- toothpicks
Directions:
Press fabric and cut two 6 inch diameter circles for each
basked.. Cover the tops of the spray cans with the waxed papper and
secure with masking tape. Cover work surfaces with old newspaper to
catch the glue when it drips. Mix equal parts glue and water.
Dip circle a circle of fabric into the glue mixture until the fabric is
saturated. Smooth fabric between fingers, pressing out as much glue
as possible, without wrinkling the fabric. Center the fabric circle
on the top of the can. Arrange the edges into attractive fluted
folds and allow to dry edges into attractive fluted folds and allow to dry
undistrubted. When the circle is throughly dry, drape a second
glue-saturated circle over the first. Flute the edges so that
whenever the first layer curves out, the second curves in to touch it and
outward curves of the second layer are opposite inward curves of the first
circle. Allow to dry completely. Dip an 11 inch piece of
ribbon into the glue mixture and hang from one end to dry.
When the basked is dry, carefully remove it from the can, and seperate
the waxed paper from the fabric. Trim any raveled edges.
Curebe the ribbon into a handle and with undiluted glue, secure the ends
between layers of fabric.
Attach tiny silk flowers for a final touch with a toothpick, by
applying a dab of white glue to the back of each flower. Hold the
flower in place until it drys. |
