The  Fruit pyramids was one it the most popular decorations in colonial America.  It was brought by settlers from England where it had been a season favorite for a long time.  The addition of the pineapple as a topper was introduced in America.  If only the top of the pineapple is used the pyramid is said to be topped with a deceit.

Moss Wreath

Materials:

  • 12 inch diameter straw wreath
  • 18 inch wire
  • thick glue
  • dried sheet moss
  • 1 yard (1 inch wide) ribbon
  • dried straw flowers
  • dried yarrow

Directions:

Wrap 12 inch length of wire around the straw wreath, and twist together to form a loop.

Cover the straw wreath with the thick glue, and push the moss firmly into the glue.  When the front of the wreath is firnly covered, turn the wreath and cover the back.

Tie the ribbon into a bow, leaving 8 inch streamers.  Place a 6 inch wire through the back of the bow and push the wire into the wreath.  Add dired straw flowers with glue if they do not have wire stems; if the flowers do have wire stems, us the stems into the wreath.  Place the streamers in apleasing position and glue the steamers to the moss.  Attach small pieces of dried yarrow with glue.

Moss Heart

Instead of a traditional wreath for your Christmas decorating, this year make a hear to h ang on a mirror or above a mantel.  The moss heart is madein the same manner as the moss wreath, except that the bse is made of plastic foam.  You can either purchase ahear-shaped pieace of plastic foram oar cut a hear shapr from a black.  You find all the material you need to make this craft a Joannn's.  Just use the search box at the top of this page.
