Materials:
For Prints
- 6 inch x 6 1/2 inch scrap of cotton-blend print fabric
- 3 inch x 6 1/2 inch scrap of coordinating fabric
- 2 inch x 6 1/2 inch scrap of coordinating fabric
- 2 inch x 6 1/2 inch scrap of coordinating fabric
- 6 1/2 inch piece of eyelet
- 12 inch ribbon
- small flowers, pinecones, or leaves
- potpourri
- small piece of wire
For Velvet Bag
- 6 1/2 inch x 6 inch scrap of velvet
- 6 1/2 inch piece if narrow lace
- 6 1/2 inch piece of wide lace
- 12inch robbon
- small flowers, pinecones, or leaves
- potpourri
- small piece of wire
For the print bag: Along the 6 1/2 side
of the largest piece ofpring fabric, place the 2 inch wide strip of
coordinating fabric with the right side facing the wrong side of the
larger piece. Sew with a 1/2 inch seam allowance. Turn the eam
and narrow strip to the top. fold down the narrow strip 1/2 inch,
then 1/2 inch again and topstitch.
Machhine baste the eyelet across the 6 1/2 width of the bag, placing it
2 1/2 inches from the bottom. Fold down 1/2 inch along the length of
the reaming stri of coordinating fabric. Place over the edge of the
eyelet and topstitch.
For the velvet bag: Hem top edge of velvet
(along the 6 1/2 inch side). Topstitch the narrow lace along the
top. Place the w1de lace along the bottom of the bag. Stitch
in place along the sides and the bottom.
To Complete both bags: Fold in half, right
sides togethr. Stitch along the side and bottom, again using 1/2
inch seams. Clip corners and turn. Fill bag two thirds full with
potpourri. With wire, wrap small flowers, leaves, or cones arund
bag. tie a ribbon over wire. |
