Holiday Ham

This ham is a perfect compliment to the holiday Turkey.  Mustard and moist brown sugar combine for a perfect glaze, with cloves adding just a hint of holiday aroma. Simply delicious, with or without traditional pineapple rings.

Serves 12 to 15

Ingredients:

5-lb nitrate free all natural boneless, pre-cooked ham
1 cup natural brown sugar
1/2 cup prepared yellow mustard
pinch of ground cloves, or to taste
8 rings canned pineapple, optional
Recipe option: For a gluten-free version, look for a ham that does not have any gluten in the seasonings and choose a gluten-free mustard.

Preheat oven to 350°F. Using a sharp knife, make crosshatch cuts on top, sides and bottom of the ham and place in a roasting pan. Bake for 30 minutes.

While the ham is baking, make the glaze by combining the brown sugar with the mustard and cloves. If desired, place pineapple rings around ham. Brush all over with a little of the mustard glaze.

Lower oven heat to 325°F. Bake for one hour longer, basting ham with glaze once after 30 minutes. Transfer ham to a cutting board and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes before carving. Serve with leftover glaze from the bottom of the roasting pan.
