Caesar Pita Burgers

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup creamy Caesar dressing
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup Plain bread crumbs
  • 5 pita pocket bread halves
  • 1/2 cup shredded Asiago or Parmesan cheese
  • 5 tablespoons diced fresh tomato
  • 5 tablespoons diced fresh cucumbers

Directions

Heat grill ( gas or charcoal).  In a medium bowl, mix ground beef 1/4 cup of the dressing, the egg and bread crumbs.  Shape into 5 oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Place patties on grill; cover the grill.  Cook with medium heat 7 to 10 minutes, turning once until thermometer nserted in the center of the patties reads 160 degrees F.  During the last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking time, top each patty with cheese.

If desired, place pita bread halves with remaining 1/4 cup dressing, tomato, cucumber and patties.
