Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Beat in the milk, sugar, salt, cardamom, egg, shortening,raisins, cirton and 1 1/2 cups of the flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in wnough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead unti smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up. Cover; let rise in warm place until double, about 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down dough; shape into round loaf. Place in greased round layer pan, 9 x 1 1/2 inches. Cover; let rise until double, about 45 minutes. Heat the oven to 350° . Brush dough with Egg Yold Glaze. Bake until golden brown, 30 to 40 minutes.
Egg Yolk Glaze
Beat 1 egg yolk and 2 tablespoons water.
